I have an iPhone 4 factory unlocked (can work with any sim card or phone company that I want). I think it originally came with iOS 4.3.3 and I already updated the iOS and jailbreak many times. Nowadays I have it with iOS 5.0.1 already jailbroken.. I'd really like to update to iOS 5.1.1 and jailbreak it. My question: If this iOS update and unthetered jailbreak to 5.1.1 still possible at the moment? or I will end up with a "blocked" iphone, because of the erros in the process, with no other choice that updating to iOS 6.0.1 (current official) with no jailbreak at all. Hope it understands what I'm asking.. Please, someone answer.. Thanks!

If you have SHSH saved for iOS 5.1.1, you can update. Use 'Restore' function of newest Redsn0w 15b3. Tutorial on iClarified.com.

I have a 4S with 5.1.1, but the latest IOS available is 6.0.1. I did not update the IOS version, and followed the steps mentioned. I get an error "Unable to connect to lockdownd. aborting." But the Cydia icon appears on the iphone. did it install correctly? To remove Cydia, I tried to restore from backup, but it still had the Cydia installed. Anything Im doing wrong? I dont want to restore to 6.0.1 Thanks

I am not able to understand where u r exactly getting this error, I assume u have installed the jailbroken ios 5.1.1 then what happend did u iphone is in working state or not...? please elaborate the issue properly...

all download links are here on iclarified just pick the jailbreak for you (Absynthe) which is the best and go to turorial for your device look for absynthe jailbreak, click on it and it will run you through how to do it with a link to absynthe aswell, one will be for ios and one will be for windows remeber to pick the right one

Hi Folks, My visually impaired friend from Venezuela bought an old iPhone 3GS believing that it is not locked and tried to upgrade to 5.1.1 (without asking me, and yes, I am in Europe, so can only do remote support). She upgraded to 5.1.1 in iTunes and of course the SIM is not recognized. Yesterday I guided her installing the latest version of Absinthe on her PC. The app starts, and when she plugged the USB cable it recognized the iPhone and its hardware version, but the "Jailbreak" button stays disabled. What should she do? Although I am an iPhone dev, I never before considered jailbreaking any device, so please do not give me a hard time :) I really will appreciate your help, because for my friend the iPhone (and the VoiceOver) opened a new world of possibilities. Just sharing my experience, i have iPhone 3GS 5.1 unlocked using UltraSnow, i updated the firmware to 5.1.1 via itunes first. but then i dont have the original sim to activate the phone whereas absinthe works only on activated phone. What i did was i jailbreak it using RedSnow then after that i used Absinthe to untethered JB, but then Cydia is not working, Camera Roll hangs, safari is crashing down, and lost all my installed apps (glad i have a backup of contacts, etc.).. enough said.. i restore it again via itunes to factory settings, JB using RedSnow, update Cydia, search and install Rocky Racoon 5.1., add repo of Ultrasnow then install then thats it. Worked for my unlocked 4S 64gb, although some icons have been turning completely white, randomly. Might be settings button now, later mail or itunes or combination of some, up to 3 icons at once, all in the first screen. Working normally though.

Unsuccessful. 3GS, ATT. v5.1.1 9B206. Never unlocked or JB. First attempt failed with Absinthe 2.0.2 midway through during sending initial data...lost Camera Roll Restored to factory settings and tried again. Same result. Rebooted PC and tried again. Same result. Tried four times with same result. Failed during sending initial data...Absinthe shows message that is stopped working and I close out. Any other ideas? Thanks!

BTW, to clarify: I restored, did not sync, then JB. Failed.

I guess I did not do a full restore, because after I did restore, I still had all my apps etc. How do I fully restore/wipe clean my phone? The way I restored was turn off phone. Hold down home button then connect to iTunes via USB. This gave me the prompt to restore, which I did. When it was finished restoring all my apps, contact, etc. were still on my phone.

Im guessing you already have the 5.1.1 ipsw downloaded on to your computer, if not download it from here :- https://www.iclarified.com/750 open up itunes with your phone connected, Hold the Shift key down and click the restore button, then navigate to the ipsw on your computer and restore from there, that will be a clean install on your phone, once its finished and youve been though the setup on your phone you should beable to jailbreak using absinthe

Now I have one question: with Absinthe, the percentage battery meter is gone on my iPods, still there on the iPhone. Is there a way to get percentage display back? Just wondering. /jannek999

@jannak To enable the battery percentage.. go to settings-> general-> usage-> enable the battery percentage

I've try to JB on iPhone 4 with absinthe 2.0 through 2.0.2 but it stuck half way. Try to restore and try again to JB but no luck.

I had this prob, I had to restore my phone and once I restored it I did not sync it with Itunes, I first jailbroke it then I synced it! Try that.

My window7 ad jailbreak 1 4s,2 iPhone 4,1 3GS and nothing happen!!!

restored my lockdown folder to var root Library and the SAM unlock ticket did work for me on Iphone 4. Hope this helps.

To fix ultrasn0w for 5.1.1 add repo.iparelhos.com then install ultrasn0w 5.1.1 fixer them install ultrasn0w from dev team repo. As far as iMessage and FaceTime and mms when u JB ur iPhone don't hacktivate from redsn0w, leave the AT
