Apple's next generation iPhone could feature an HD FaceTime camera, according to KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo.
In a note to investors Kuo predicted that Apple would make "quite a few essential adjustments" to their popular smartphone.
In addition to the move to HD, he believes Apple will also employ a flip-chip (FC) solution for the front-facing camera on the upcoming iPhone. The camera's position would be moved to the middle, he said.
Kuo expects the rear facing camera to retain its 8MP resolution but improve the aperture range to f/2.2. Currently the iPhone 4S has a max aperture of f/2.4. Kuo also said the rear camera will be noticeably thinner.
According to his analysis, the new iPhone's rear camera will have a CCM of 5.55mm and a lens TTL of 4mm, down from 6mm and 4.8mm on the iPhone 4S. Apple's suppliers will reportedly face "unprecedented challenges" producing the rear camera component because of the changes to the design.
Leaked images purporting to be of a thinner and taller next generation iPhone's casing surfaced online recently.
This just in!!! Apple may apparently change the design of the next gen iPhone and it could release anytime between July and November!!! Where did you get these ideas? Check your sources
Personally, although a HD Face Time would be nice, I don't think that many people actually use Face Time much. I'd MUCH rather a higher rated rear camera, maybe a 10mp Camera. Now that would be nice. I've also love the ability to zoom the lens, but I realize that's unlikely.
