10 Ways to Slim Down and Speed Up Your Mac

ComputerWorld has posted an article with 10 suggestions on how to make your current version of OS X lean and fast.

It seems clear that Apple's biggest focus with Snow Leopard is slimming down and speeding up its flagship operating system -- both of which are attractive to any computer user. But why wait until Snow Leopard ships? There are a number of ways you can slim down and speed up your machine right now.

While the following tips probably won't deliver the dramatic improvements we expect to see in Snow Leopard, they can make a noticeable difference -- particularly on slightly older Macs or those where hard drive space is getting cramped.



1. Get rid of extra languages
2. Cut out non-native code
3. Trim down media libraries
4. Clean out logs
5. Delete unused apps
6. Reduce login items
7. Do without 3D effects
8. Remove unused fonts
9. Find large files and folders
10. Increase RAM

1.) X-Slimmer-$ rid of languages and strips crap out of programs that are not used 2.) Monolingual-Free, get rid of languages, input menu's, architecture 3.) Cpu Speed Accelerator-Shareware don't have to Pay but its encouraged 4.) Onyx- Free Use, For maintenance, and to fix permissions
