AT&T has introduced a new online form to unlock an iPhone if you meet certain requirements. Previously, users had to call in or contact Live Chat and request that their IMEI be processed for an unlock. AT&T listed the requirements on their website if you plan on unlocking your iPhone.
AT&T will unlock an iPhone under the following circumstances: The person requesting the unlock is: ● A current AT&T customer or a former AT&T customer who can provide the phone number or account number for the account ● The iPhone was designed for use on AT&T's network ● All contract obligations, including any term commitment, associated with the device to be unlocked have been fully satisfied ● The iPhone has not been reported lost or stolen.
Each account gets 5 unlocks per year, and each unlock could take up to 5-7 business days to complete. However, in our findings, it seems that the unlocks generally go through in less than 2 business days.
Any iPhone can be requested for an unlock, even the original iPhone.

AT&T website says it can be unlocked after 60 days. Is it good for new iPhone 5 commitment price phones too ? Because Sprint and Verizon offers unlocking after 60 days of service.

I just received a follow up letter from At&t.
Saying we have received your request and confirmed that I am eligible to have my iphone unlocked .Please allow 24Hr for this receipt
After that plug my your iPhone to your iTunes, restore it
Bam done your Iphone will be unlocked.
Just a little advise you dont need to restore your iPhone to have it unlocked.
I've done it B4..all you need is to borrow a T-mobile or from another provider besides att to make sure its unlocked.
Good luck
Thank you A&t.

LOL away brother. The major chunk on ebay is spam if that's what you're referring to. Yes, the website is new because the factory unlock came into existence about a couple of months ago and I was on vacation. And even with the website being so young, I've unlocked hundreds of phones!

My iphones 4's were unlocked after my 2 year contract ended. However, i am planning to replace them with Iphone 5's, but will definetly switch to Verizon if AT&T does not change their policy and allow unlocks after 90 days. I will be travelling aboraod a lot from now on, so I must have it unlocked. I don't want to form out $650 and buy directly from Apple. I have been a customer for over 12 years and have always paid on time.

Me too. I got one iphone4 from a friend from Dubai. So far I have not unlocked it until a week ago that I found maybe I will have to use it not only in china but also abroad. I hope of I can find a way to make the phone work well all over the world and no need to change to a new one.

I have done it with a 3GS that I got from someone who moved from US to Belgium. I also live in Belgium and even gave them a Belgian mail address to contact me. Took me less than 4 days before it was done so I would def try. Didnt do it through this form tho, I called them. Hope this answers your question.

At&t will unlock your iPhone if you own your iPhone straight out.
If your iphone is under contract it wont be unlocked.
Or if you dont pay your bills on time late all the time or partial payments they will not unlock it for you.
The only risk is if you loose your iPhone you will never see it again being unlocked you are fucked.
I lost my unlocked Iphone4S just the first week att unlocked it for me..
I was working out it slid from my bag..never saw it again.
