A Better Spotlight for iOS [Concept Video]

Designer Cody Sanfilippo has put together a concept video detailing how he thinks Spotlight for iOS should work.

Here's my proposal for what Spotlight should be in iOS. At it's core, it's a filtering system for Spotlight results. However, the system goes deeper than that; it allows for searching through all applications without launching them, a file system for iOS, a Siri-like experience from Spotlight, a way to get your information quickly in order to get back what you were doing.

If spotlight was like that, then I might actually use it.

so basically likes widgets inside spotlight, sounds good, looks good hope they hire this guy like they hired the one who made the siri mock up before the 4S event

I dislike it. You need to search everything at once. If it ain't broke don't fix it

What? At the moment you do have to search everything at once, and there isn't any intelligence or further options once you've found what you want. It would be worthwhile scrapping the spotlight screen and incorporate the search bar into notifications bar, along with quick quick settings buttons.

I would think you would have the option to filter or not so is a plus.

Make a cydia tweak. Have huge demand for it and after a year or 2 Apple will "invent it" and it will be thier "brilliant idea" and it will change everything again. Then you can be happy that you gave apple the idea to have an idea. Like MMS, 3G FaceTime, tethering, wallpapers, Siri commands, folders, and all the other stuff they innovated all by themsleves !!!

I think that's why apple close their eyes on jailbreak. If they'd really block it, they can but they take ideas from "illegal" cydia to "legal" apple. I'm totally agreed with you that they're copy some features from jailbreak but that's how they are growing up.
