BigBoss, of the BigBoss Cydia Repository, has warned jailbreakers not to update to iOS 6 until a jailbreak is released.
"iOS 6 is a total dud. I think it's by far the worst major upgrade Apple has ever provided. It's more like a 5.1.2 than a 6.0," said BigBoss.
He notes the major differences moving to iOS6 from iOS 5: 1) Removes youtube 2) Removes google maps. 3) Adds apple maps. No street view, no transit directions. Remember, google has been doing maps a long time. No way apple is doing it as well in a few months. 4) Adds what? Facebook integration, ViP mail, do not disturb? iOS 5 users, you can get "do not disturb" functionality with "ringerx vip" in cydia.
This is definitely not worth an upgrade. And if you are jailbroken on iOS5 definitely do not upgrade to this. You will lose your jailbreak and that's definitely not worth it for this.
We are hopeful that an untethered jailbreak will be found for iOS 6; however, before updating please take into consideration that only a tethered jailbreak is available at the moment.

3) Adds apple maps. No street view, no transit directions. Remember, google has been doing maps a long time. No way apple is doing it as well in a few months. This is not totally true, because blackberry has been doing cell phone a long time before apple and apple made a better phone.

The article mentions you can get "do not disturb" functionality with "ringerx vip" in cydia, they should say also that in Cydia you need to pay $2.99 for that feature, and in iOS6 you get that one and many more for free....

Do you have IOS 6 instelled ? it's a BIG upgrade .. and Jailbreak will come ..

rexology - September 19, 2012 at 12:25am
I think for now, iOS6 is a downgrade. But once this OS is jailbroken...all the heartbroken Apple users will be happy enough to hop on again.

Definitivamente, este es el principio del fin de Apple, han dejado de innovar y van a peor, una pena, pero toda empresa tuene su fin.

BrawlBro1 - September 18, 2012 at 10:18pm
Are you referring that comment to my comment? If so, then read it again because I clearly mentioned Passbook, Siri, and other sorts of features.

BrawlBro1 - September 18, 2012 at 10:20pm
You forgot that eventually some developer will port Spanish translations to Siri.

I don't care about the jailbreak!
iOS 6 is a really nice update...

iOS 6 is just a small update with little features. There are no major features in iOS 6, except for Passbook, new UI for some apps, and 3D Maps (which is literally useless and pointless). The original stock maps was better. The new Siri features aren't even a major feature. There just small features that should had been implemented in iOS 5. I could only think of 2 major features and a useless feature.

It doesn't take long after a new iOS version comes out before apps start to require the latest version. So what the new features are is irrelevant. You need it regardless.

Fair enough. I don't want to see the 'This app requires iOS 6' message. Though, you could easily bypass it. Most app nowadays require iOS 4.3 .

BrawlBro1 - September 19, 2012 at 1:56am
Yeah... there was suppose to be a plus sign at the end of 4.3.

Pretty much the only reason I'm Jailbroken now is because of 'My3G'. It's awesome but in a couple weeks I'll have the iPhone 5 and it'll be pre-installed with iOS6. I've been jailbreaking since day one and with each major update in Apple software it's making me more inclined not to worry so much about it. Though with a iOS6 jailbreak comes out I'll most likely get it.

Pretty useless advice. Anyone that has a jailbroken phone knows to not upgrade until there's a new jailbreak available, but complaining about how 'unimpressive' the new iPhone is isn't going to convince anyone not to upgrade, otherwise we'd all be using Samsung devices. Most iPhone users will upgrade (even at $850 a pop) simply for the LTE/4G access, not to mention all the other upgrades. Trying to convince people NOT to upgrade hasn't worked with the many Android supporters on this and every other Apple support website, do you really think it'll work now?
No one needs his advice on what to do with our own money. It may not be worth upgrading existing iPhones to iOS 6, but people aren't going to be convinced not to buy an iPhone 5.

I think you misread the article. It's talking about upgrading your current hardware OS to iOS6, not upgrading to iPhone 5.
