OrbLive enhancements include:
-- recording live media. If you can't watch it live, you can now record it, even when you are away. It's like having a TiVo in your hand -- but better because you can record not only live TV (with a tuner), but Internet TV/radio stations and webcams right from your iPhone
-- searching to easily access content. With thousands of Internet TV and Radio stations available, the new text search capability makes it easy to find what you want quickly and easily
-- managing favorites. Designate any TV channel, Internet TV or radio station as a favorite even while you're on the go, eliminating the tedious task of sorting through tens or hundreds of channels
-- enhanced playback. Now you can seek inside any audio or video file to find exactly what you want or zoom-in on content while playing. And the on-screen controls rotate for landscape mode
OrbLive enables iPhone and touch users to play anything -- music, photos, video, webcams -- that's on their home PC. For live TV, the PC needs a tuner card, but there are no other boxes or subscriptions required, making TV viewing on the iPhone convenient and easy. Unlike other methods that require synch-ing or flinging content from yet another dedicated media device, OrbLive provides anytime, anywhere access to live TV, video, and music.
"Everyone who buys an iPhone wants a kick-ass media experience while they are on the go. Unfortunately, most of the media vendors have been unable to extend their applications to the Apple mobile platform. For example, Sling made their second generation pre-announcement about delivering something on the iPhone at last week's MacWorld. Coincidentally, Orb just delivered the 4th real release of OrbLive, and today it is enjoyed by over 200,000 customers who have been actually enjoying live TV on the iPhone," said Joe Costello, CEO of Orb Networks. "Why wait for something that hasn't been developed yet when you can use OrbLive today to stream video and live TV over 3G, Edge, and WIFI?"
