Sales of Macs and iOS devices are closing in on the number of Windows PCs sold during a quarter, notes Benedict Evans.
In Q4, Apple sold 75m iOS devices and 4.1m Macs. Most estimates of total PC (including Mac) sales in the same period were around 90m. In other words, Apple is now (in peak quarters) selling as many computing devices as Windows. This trend is not going to change.
Check out the chart below. How long before Apple device's sales surpasses Microsoft's?
This graphic shows that Macs will NEVER reach the level of PCs, but that tablets will surely overtake PCs (with the iPad being the lead tablet on the market). Again, this is really non-news.
i was thinking the same thing. of course all apple devices combined are gaining on windows desktop sales. Desktop sales have been on the decline for years. The overall trend for PCs has been moving toward mobile(laptop, smartphone, tablet). If you combine apple laptops, and ios devices then yes the desktop pc is losing ground, but like you said this is non-news. windows will always dominate in the office environment, because it is a lower cost alternative to Apple devices, and Apple will never compromise and make a low cost device.
Dude Windows is crap..2 of my friends just purchased Win8 pcs..they f**cking hate it.
They are trying to be like Apple ..its a pain to use the WIN 8..
Apple is no doubt the best company in the world.
They do care about the satisfaction of the consumer.
I just wish they can allow us to jailbreak our iPhones
