Apple has reportedly registered a building in Pudong, Shanghai for use as a Research and Development facility, reports Yicai via BrightWire.
Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce has announced that Apple will open its R&D center this summer. Apple has registered three firms in three buildings in Pudong, Shanghai, and one of them will be dedicated to procurement management and R&D, according to documents on the Shanghai Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce's website.
Earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook was said to have met with Beijing's mayor about an R&D facility. It's unclear if this is the same one that is being reported for Shanghai or if Apple is looking to build more than one facility.
