Apple has reportedly adjusted its shipment estimates for the iPad and iPad mini in 2013, increasing iPad mini shipments to 55 million and decreasing iPad shipments to 33 million, reports DigiTimes.
Originally Apple had predicted shipments for its 9.7-inch iPads to reach approximately 60 million units and the iPad mini 40 million units. Not only has Apple dropped its overall expected shipments for the two devices, but it also expects the iPad mini to sell substantially better during the year, said the sources.
The site expects these changes to affect suppliers with LG and Radiant Opto-Electronics to take a hit on reduced iPad shipments while AU Optronics and Coretronic get a bump on increased iPad mini shipments.
AUO has already seen an increase in tablet panel shipments from less than one million a month to about 1.7 million a month largely as a result of entering Apple's iPad mini supply chain, and Coretronic is expected to its shipments of BLUs used in tablet products, noted the sources.
I don't know you, but I hate paying for an old iPad (iPad 2) which is being sold as "new", just because it is smaller.
When Apple starts making an iPad Mini which is actually new and powerful hardware, then I'll buy it.
I for one can say for sure the 9.7 4th edition ipads are still lingering on ebay and keep appearing like they want to dump them so no wonder they want to cut production on them
