Thousands gathered in Times Square to watch the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S 4, reports The Verge.
Samsung took over the square plastering it will billboards and video streaming the unveil on multiple jumbo screens. According to the site, "Missing was the applause and cheering commonly heard at Apple events, but money can't buy everything." However, the event did at least manage to get the attention of many.
The company is being criticized for continuing to use lower quality build materials but it remains to be seen if customers will respond to the large 5-inch display. Check out an early comparison of the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S 4 here or photos from Times Square below...

We are so glad for the competition that Samsung has brought to the market! HTC is my choice for premium handsets (HTC One) with features to die for. Used to love you Apple but the iPhone 5 is a joke midget phone. The iPhone 6 better blow away the "current" HTC One and the Galaxy S4 or Apple will will officially move to a distant third place in the smartphone market and over time will become the Blackberry of the future.

Samsung unboxed was a show not an unveiling. They tried too hard to make it fun and entertaining and missed the entire point of the unveiling, which was to show an incredible phone. All the new features announced were overshadowed by the performance.
