What version of ipod 2g is this for? does it matter? I have 2.1.1 and I was wondering if I should/could upgrade to 2.2.1 before I jailbreak..

yes this is for the newest version, so yea put a fresh restore (of the newest version) before you run pwnage!
good luck

I found the problem the tutorial says to execute "!iBSS211.dfu" but it should be "iBSS211pwn.dfu". Everything was smooth from there on out. Thanks a bunch for the tutorial.

I have the same problem as Clayton Lai, stuck on step 19 I got all the way to [DFU] !iBSS211.dfu
Executing: iBSS211.dfu
Cannot open specified file

Make sure the file you are trying to open is the exact same as the open in terminal.
I had the same problem where one of them ended in dfu. instead of dfu w/o the .
good luck

Oh, duh
I had wrongly renamed the .dfu file at the end of Step Fourteen. Instead of "iBSS211.dfu", I had typed "iBSS221.dfu". Works fine now.
Thanks for the great tutorial.

I did everything like you said, and than in step 19 things didn't go like you said...
I inputted cd ~/Desktop/Pwnage, quit itunes after the recovery pop-up from the DFU mode showed, typed ./rslite and this is what i got:
Hizkis-MacBook-3:Pwnage admin$ ./rslite
rslite - by the iPhone Dev Team, 2009.

If the patch through terminal can we just manually go into the folder and replace the file?

Thanks for the how to.
Just a couple things:
1. There is an error in the part where you check your SHA1 code in step 17.
you forgot the / before usr here >> "usr/bin/openssl sha1" it should be
/usr/bin/openssl sha1....................
2. I can't seem to get the correct SHA1 code. Is it okay to try to repatch again and again w/o starting over to try to get the correct code?
3. Could we use the ipsw image you or someone else has made to restore, and if so could you post yours PLEASE???
Thanks so much for all the help!!!

Just download his .ipsw's. BOTH his "...a.restore.ipsw, and ...8.restore.ipsw" and it will work. I too recieved the wrong SHA1 code and it was because I was using my own .ipsw from my itunes folder.
