1.st gen iPhone users are f*cked. Thanks Apple. You definitely know how to conserve your customer base. I am gone now. And yes: there will be no online petition this time by me. This is just too much. MMS as a basic feature of any 10US$ cell phone will not be available to 1st gen iPhones. Like the other guys said: Apple screw you. You've just gone too far. This is the beginning of the end.

Just stop your whining and get a new phone

Oh spare us the anger about new features not being supported by the 1st gen iPhone. How can anyone possibly expect every new firmware feature to be supported on old hardware? Sure it's rough, but you have to be realistic. It is reasonable to expect to have to upgrade your phone every two years--that's why most people are on 2 year plans

What a bunch of f@gs. Rich is right! If you want the features go get another phone. Can't wait for apple to completely stop supporting the 1st gen,

@Rich: you are such an Apple-Polisher. Are you getting paid by Apple or did you just smoke to much crack? I can just repeat it again (just for you Mr. and Ms. Tech-Unaware-Ignorant): there is no hardware reason why MMS is not supported on 1st gen iPhones (SwirlMMS does it for jailbroken iPhones). This is just Apple's marketing crap. In Portugal MMS is available via AppStore for 1st gen iPhones aswell. Prolly the iPhone Dev Team will solve this as it is obviously artificial blockage of a working feature. BTW dickhead: my iPhone is just 13 months old... Even my 8 years old Nokia understands MMS. So go get screwing yourself but shut up... Kd rgds from the old world

I do not work for apple. I am a consumer just like you. I feel apple was trying to do something differant and set there phone apart from the rest. Just because all cell phones use mms doesn't mean apple has to. But now that mms will be available there is also the possibility a charge we also be included by the carrier as most carriers do charge or have a package. So now apple Is going to bring mms to the iPhone I can now guarantee people will whine about the carrier charge.

It looks like apple have pulled out a lot of stops with this update, I wonder if these updates are as much about the Palm as taking jailbroken apps out of the picture. I am, for once, looking forward to this update. I just hope they improve the lag on loading sms etc.

i totally agree more features means more o/s system memory, so they have to come out with a larger flsh drive.

That is why they are not going to support mms and bluetooth features on the first gen iphone even knowing that mms works on it i don't think apple is that stupid they have mms apps in the europe appstores i know i have family there and a few have iphones with mms working on them (portugal has this service so does spain) unless apple wants to walk into a massive lawsuit from their customers because the phone companies there supports it not like at@t trying to force everybody to 3g service they are not going to do it it will just kill the battery all this memory on this new OS so my whole thing is they are going to pull a new iphone with more memory 32g maybe 64g with all them features they have to they don't have a choice . i say wait in 3to 4 months everybody with a 3g iphone will be crying like the first gen'ers

No, Apple are that stupid. They just wanna force 1st gen users to switch to the newest generation being released in the end of june. Memory is really no reason. Even the little 4GB iPhone is capable to save thousands of MMS'. And the battery is no problem either as it is the worst battery I've ever gotten anyway. As a long time Apple user (since 2000). I can tell I am really done with Apple. Worse product's quality since Intel transition and ignorant management decisions are the ingredients for a company's decline. No matter if the masses are currently hyping Apple as cutting edge. Most of the IT professionals don't recommend Apple products anymore, because of that ignorant update management. Life cycles are extremely short with Apple products whereas asset costs are downright too high for worse hardware quality. And most of all, Steve is sick and Rubinstein (the inventor of the iPod) has already left Apple and is developing the Palm Pre. So this is Rome guys, forget Apple. This company is eventually going down. Give them 5 years.

Also eagerly awaiting jailbreak of 3.0, no problem waiting as long as it takes though- it looks like Clippy and Quickgold will be replaced by OS features, while I will still rely heavily on a ton of other jailbroken software for my everyday use anyway. What really gets me is that they are charging $10 for the firmware update for iPod touches. iPod touches already have to cope with a fairly neutered hardware set compared to the iPhone... it's not like I actually expect to pay for it (they shattered any chance of that when they tried charging for 2.0), it's just the gall of Apple in cases like this that drive me mad.
