Apple has fallen from 26th place on Forbes' "The World's Most Innovative Companies" list to 79th place. In 2011 Apple placed 5th on the list.
According to the rankings, Apple's 12-Month Sales Growth is 13.8%, its 5-Year Annualized Total Return is 23.8%, and its Innovation Premium is 22.3%.
The list was topped by Salesforce.com, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, VMware, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and ARM Holdings. Amazon came in 7th and Google placed 47th.
What so big fuzz about this? There is nothing special in this. Next year apple will go down another 100 places. They have been in this position by copying other mobile companies especially Samsung. Now they are unable to copy much. There is a limit in everything.
