Netflix Announces Super HD is Now Available to All Members, Apple TV Supported

Netflix has announced that all members now have access to their highest quality 'Super HD' video streams. Super HD applies less compression to 1080p video making the picture look better on HD screens with a higher bit rate stream.

We initially rolled out Super HD in January only through ISPs with a direct connection to Netflix. Based on the performance data we’ve seen, and in response to member requests, we are now expanding availability to give all our members the ability to enjoy Netflix in the best possible quality.

Netflix uses “adaptive streaming” to dynamically adjust the video quality based on the available bandwidth. This means that the ability to receive Super HD depends on broadband quality and performance. Netflix members who subscribe to an ISP with a direct Netflix connection will get the best experience. Devices compatible with Super HD include the:
● Sony PlayStation 3
● Apple TV with 1080p
● Roku with 1080p*
● Nintendo Wii U
● Windows 8 App
● TiVo Premiere DVR

Super HD requires an Internet connection speed of at least 5Mb/s, and 7Mb/s for the highest available video quality.

Still waiting for 3D content, these new tellys has the feature but nowhere is suitable content.

So that means call your cable provider and ask if they support that as well use one of the devices that supports it also. So I guess I'm using my PS3 to stream videos from Netflix exclusively, kind of tedious jumping off the computer to the PlayStation but whatever. I would like to see it on the webpage too, but it's always been better on the PS3 because it's dedicated to just doing that one thing, instead of my computer plugged into the TV doing a lot of background stuff resources killed quality. If my cable provider supports this then it's a win-win for me because I already get better-quality 1080p on my PS3 then my computer & now ill get even better 1080p :)
