Apple Readies New iPad Pro and Redesigned MacBook Pro for Early 2027

Apple is gearing up for a busy spring 2027, with plans to introduce an upgraded iPad Pro lineup and a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro. According to Bloomberg, the company is already testing four new iPad Pro models while developing the revamped 14-inch MacBook Pro for release next year.



The new iPad Pro models are targeted for a spring 2027 release. The tablets will maintain the current 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes, with the upgrades expected to center on faster chips. Apple has previously tested a vapor chamber cooling system for the tablets to improve sustained performance and reduce overheating.


The redesigned 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro, known internally as K104, is being developed for as early as the first half of 2027. The laptop will adopt the new design that Apple is developing for its higher-end touchscreen MacBooks, which are expected to arrive between late this year and early 2027. Interestingly, Apple already finalized a refreshed version utilizing the current chassis and an M6 chip, which has been planned for release this year.

Apple's first M7 processor is also targeted to debut as early as next year. The accelerated transition from the M6 generation aligns with earlier supply chain indicators that the company is fast-tracking its AI-focused M7 generation. Bloomberg notes that extreme memory and silicon shortages continue to pressure Apple's supply chain, leaving portions of its product roadmap subject to change. The company recently raised prices across its Mac and iPad lineups amid the ongoing memory crunch.

The early 2027 hardware push will also include a second-generation iPhone Air with improved battery life and camera upgrades, alongside the standard iPhone 18. Those releases reflect Apple's broader strategy of spreading major hardware launches more evenly throughout the year rather than concentrating them in the fall.

2027 is shaping up to be one of Apple's busiest hardware years yet. Later in the year, the company is preparing to launch a 20th-anniversary iPhone, a second-generation foldable model, new smart home devices, and its first pair of smart glasses.
