The A8 processor Apple is expected to use in its next generation smartphone will still be manufactured by Samsung; however, TSMC will handle a majority of the production, according to the Korean daily Hankyung.
The paper reported on Sunday that 60-70 percent of the manufacturing for the new processor would be handled by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. with the remainder going to Samsung.
Despite rumors that TSMC would replace Samsung as manufacturer of the A7 processor, a teardown of Apple's new iPhone 5s reveals that Samsung was making the chip.
The WSJ previously reported that Apple signed a deal with TSMC to produce chips starting in 2014.
It's the reverse actually, without the knowledge of Apple's engineers what will Samsung use to improve their chips? To make it worse, Samsung loses their biggest client.
Well, They could have if intel would have agreed to settle for what apple offered them. But now apple will sooner or later be on its own with its processor, apple designed it, samsung only manufactures it. hense why they are going to have someone else produce it.
