MacBook LCD Logo Mod

MacBook LCD Logo Mod

Posted April 2, 2009 at 3:00pm by iClarified
Eddie Zarick has modded his MacBook by inserting an LCD panel in place of the Apple logo. The panel operates as a secondary monitor and lets you display any image or video you like within the frame of the apple.

Eddie has posted instructions on how to perform this mod yourself on his blog. Here is the list of materials.
1. MacBook (either Black or White, not sure if the new uni-body macs will work)
2. Century Japan 4.3” USB LCD (LCD-4300U) I have some on ebay ($200.00)
3. USB LCD Mac Drivers by Display Link
3. Clear Apple Logo from ibook or powerbook
4. Solder and iron
5. Misc Tools

You can take a look at the video below for the final product.

That's pretty hot. I would be too chicken to try it though.
