As of today nearly one billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store. Apple is launching a promotional giveaway to mark the occasion. For every app downloaded between now and a billion you will automatically be entered for a chance to win.

As of today, nearly one billion apps have been downloaded around the globe. So we just want to say thanks — a billion. Download an app and you’ll automatically get the chance to win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro. Just go to the iTunes Store, browse the App Store, and download your best app yet.

according to the official rules, and contrary to popular belief, every downloaded app/submitted form doesn't give you a chance. You only win if you are the 1 billionth app download/submitted form , under #5 of official rules.
