Flipboard has acquired the Zite news reader app from CNN. As part of the deal, Flipboard has also teamed up with CNN to launch custom magazines for CNN shows anchored by Fareed Zakaria, Jake Tapper, and John King.
"By bringing the Zite team and technology to Flipboard, we can deliver an even more personalized experience to every Flipboard reader," Flipboard CEO Mike McCue said.
CNN says the deal is valued at $60 million. It bought Zite for a reported $20-$25 million in August 2011.
