Roku CEO Anthony Wood dismissed the company's competition in an interview with Peter Kafka at the first-ever Code/Media event in Santa Monica.
"Apple TV is essentially an accessory for the iPad. They lose money, which is unusual for Apple," he said Thursday. "If you're losing money, why would you want to sell more?" He also noted that the day Apple launched its $99 box, Roku sales doubled.
Wood also addressed rumors that Amazon would be launching a video streaming box next week.
“Every year about this time, the Amazon box comes up that they’re about to launch. And the new Apple TV is about to launch … We’ve been competing with Apple TV for six years now, and every year, we’ve grown,” Wood told Kafka. ”We’re in the TV platform business. Our goal is to be the operating system for TV.”

If atv is losing money then Roku is in a lot of trouble. Apple has scale on their side, plus the parts on atv are left over from the iphone 4S and I doubt Roku gets better deal than apple, enough said.
The problem with trash talk when you are CEO is that you are not erring on the side of caution.
There has been many CEOs that had diarrhea of the mouth and it came back to bite them in the worst possible way. You would think that they as CEO would learn from others who shaded such awful fate. The one I called to mind is the Treo Handsprings CEO; where are they now?
