WhatsApp Messenger has been updated with many new features including photo and video captions, the ability to archive chats and groups, a fast camera access button, and more.
WhatsApp Messenger is a smartphone messenger available for iPhone and other smartphones. WhatsApp uses your 3G or WiFi (when available) to message with friends and family. Switch from SMS to WhatsApp to send and receive messages, pictures, audio notes, and video messages. First year FREE! ($0.99 USD/year after)
FEATURES: * NO HIDDEN COST: Once you and your friends download the application, you can use it to chat as much as you want. Send a million messages a day to your friends for free! WhatsApp uses your Internet connection: 3G/EDGE or Wi-Fi when available.
* MULTIMEDIA: Send Video, Images, and Voice notes to your friends and contacts.
* GROUP CHAT: Enjoy group conversations with your contacts. Add or Remove group participants, change group subject and set a group icon.
* PERSONAL: Set a profile photo which will be shown to all your contacts
* NO INTERNATIONAL CHARGES: Just like there is no added cost to send an international email, there is no cost to send WhatsApp messages internationally. Chat with your friends all over the world as long as they have WhatsApp Messenger installed and avoid those pesky international SMS costs.
* SAY NO TO PINS AND USERNAMES: Why even bother having to remember yet another PIN or username? WhatsApp works with your phone number, just like SMS would, and integrates flawlessly with your existing phone address book.
* NO NEED TO LOG IN/OUT: No more confusion about getting logged off from another computer or device. With push notifications WhatsApp is ALWAYS ON and ALWAYS CONNECTED.
* NO NEED TO ADD BUDDIES: Your Address Book is used to automatically connect you with your contacts. Your contacts who already have WhatsApp Messenger will be automatically displayed under Favorites, similar to a buddy list.
* OFFLINE MESSAGES: Even if you miss your push notifications or turn off your iPhone, WhatsApp will save your messages offline until you retrieve them during the next application use.
* AND MUCH MORE: Share location and places, Exchange contacts, Custom wallpaper, Custom notification sounds, Landscape mode, Message timestamps, Email chat history, Broadcast messages and media to many contacts at once, and much much more!
What's New In This Version: - Added ability to archive chats and groups - Add captions to photos and videos - Added fast camera access button for capturing and sending photos - You can now share slow-motion videos (iPhone 5s only) - You can now trim videos before sharing them - Share Location: add support for satellite and hybrid map views when sharing a location - Share Location: drop and drag pin lets you share a precise location - New media auto-download preferences: Settings > Chat Settings > Media Auto-Download - New Wallpapers: Settings > Chat Settings > Chat Wallpapers > Wallpaper Library - New Notification tones: Settings > Notifications - You can now attach screenshots when reporting problems

I haven't seen the nag screen once since the latest update. I have notifications for whatsapp on in iOS but I have it set not to show in Notification Center or on the lock screen.
Now if only they would fix the backup feature for iOS8...
It didn't take Dropbox very long to fix.
Stoppp the annoing notification, if someone truned notification off is for a reason not to get a pop every time they check whatsapp messages. I think alot of people leaving whatsapp to tango
Stop the Stupidity - September 14, 2014 at 10:09pm
Purchased on both my android devices and iphones. Have now deleted on both and in process of deciding between CoverMe and Telegram for my new private messaging service. Congratulations Facebook on destroying another brand.
Last update keep pop up message to enable microphone , well I don't want do I disable photos also , and try avoid using what's app
Instead I will you apples iMessage
This reminder to turn on notification in Whatsapp is so annoying. Seems like FB took over Whatsapp only to destroy it and to make everyone switch to equally annoying Messenger.
That notifications pop up was annoying the hell out of me! I've managed to stop it though by deleting Whatsapp then reinstalling it. Fingers crossed it stays away!
They replied to my friend and said there's are no plans to fix it - they made it that way because...
"notifications let you know you've received messages when WhatsApp is not open and the phones microphones setting allows you to use voice messaging features. Because these settings will allow for the best possible experience with WhatsApp, we encourage you to keep these settings turned on."
So basically, they're not taking it away and they've given you no choice if you want that annoying popup to go away. Lovely company - looks like we're going to find something else to use.
