AT&T Has Received 'Hundreds of Thousands' of iPhone 6 Pre-Orders, Says 'It's Amazing to See the Volume'

AT&T received 'hundreds of thousands' of iPhone 6 pre-orders by this morning, according to CEO Ralph de la Vega. His comments were made at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, reports FierceWireless.

De la Vega woke up this morning to find his company had taken a huge amount of pre-orders for the iPhone 6. He said it was great to see "before you even have a cup of coffee."

"It's amazing to see the volume," he said, adding that the "systems are rocking" and "everything is going well." He said demand for the new phones is "better than last year and they're better than the prior year [before that]."

"Every time there is a change in [iPhone] design, there's an uptake," he said. "I think this design is particularly good."

Pre-order demand appears to be stronger than in year's past. It took many users a few hours before they were able to place an order on the online Apple Store. At this point, we are still not able to check our order status and shipping estimates for the iPhone 6 Plus have slipped to 3-4 weeks.

I ordered at 1205am. I got the email confirmation 0350am. I 2 hours ago (04:30pm) I got another email that my order is ready to pick up on Monday the 15th.

Ordered a 6 plus 64GB Space Grey. Order went thru around 12:30am PST. ATT website shows order shipping 11/9 - 11/22 WTF!

I woke up at 3 am EST and had an ordered processed and and email confirmation from At&t at 3:07 am EST for a Iphone 6 plus gold 64GB with a ship date of 10/13 to 10/22. Wondering if they actually had any stock to sell.

Sounds like they never had any to begin with, and the Apple rep on the phone didn't sound optimistic about finding any at the stores on launch day.

I talked to an Apple salesperson on the phone and they say there's not much chance of doing any better at the store because what they have at the stores is already sold out. Guess we just have to wait till next month. I also got screwed by the app and website not being able to connect and then went to bed without having placed the order. Then waking up and trying again and seeming to have missed out.

I ordered mine within 5 minutes of opening. I ordered the iphone 6 plus. My confirmation just came saying the phone will not ship till October 31 through November 11

I ordered at 12:01 and my confirmation saying the phone will ship on 9/19. I guess I'm just a little lucky :)

I got an initial confirmation saying 9/19 but now it says 9/23-10/2 so better double check.
