About time! I stopped even looking for games since thr IAP plague started. Now I might search and maybe even find something worthwhile again :-)

Now Apple have there only developers making the games for the pay once and play so they make all the profit. With the in app purchase games Apple only made a percentage off the developers game being bought, but saw how much extra money they made through in all purchase and decided to Sabotage there earnings by creating pay once and play. That's just my view I could be completely wrong.

But doesn't Apple get the same cut from IAP's too?

Good, just like the old days before the invention of the in-app purchases. The whole concept of IAPs is not fair, especially for games that use Game Center. Kids save their money to get a game and will always lose because the kids that have money will always win by buying the best cars to race or extra power ups. Greed by the developers made an unfair system! That's the reason that I will never pay for IAPs; I prefer paying for the game once.
