Apple is already warning users that its new glossy 'jet black' finish for the iPhone 7 is susceptible to micro abrasions.
On the Technical Specifications page for the iPhone 7, Apple suggests that users who would be bothered by these scratches should use an iPhone case.
The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.
Presumably, the finish should hold up at least as well as the finish on the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS but we'll have to wait until we get one in hand to offer more details. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

Its called ghost armor or any other variant. Minimal protection agains drops but phone will not scratch. I am getting the i7 Plus Jet Black 256GB and will be putting Ghost Armor on it so it can keep the same glossy look and style as factory.

I'm just more excited for iOS 10. I can't wait for that. I'll stick with my awesome 6S for another year.

The faces of old Swatch watches and sometimes car paint have similar problems. A moist rag with a mild abrasive like toothpaste might help. Maybe someone should test that. - Why get the beautiful jet black finish and then get a case? Makes no sense to me.

so you get a showy iPhone 7 in glossy black and you cant show it off because you have to wear a case. 'laugh out loud'.

Or you can, but very carefully.

Whats the point in getting a jet black glossy iphone and then "hide" it inside a case?.. If they can make glass scratch resistant, surely they can make the paint finish scratch resistant.. That "feature" will probably come with the iphone 7s. I'm a Apple fan and iphone user... before anyone attacks me for saying something negative about the iphone.

Get a clear case so you can still see something protected.

Complain all you want about scratching, it's still your fault just like bending.
