Apple is setting up its first research and development center in Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park, according to statement from the Zhongguancun Park Management Committee relayed by DigiTimes.
The R&D center has a registered capital of CNY100 million (US$14.994 million), with total investment likely to reach CNY300 million in the future. The center plans to hire a total of 500 employees, focusing on the development of computer software and hardware products, communication, audio and video devices, as well as advanced technologies for consumer electronics products and the information industry.
Apple is expected to complete work on the center this year and will use it to integrate engineering and business teams from ramping up sales and services. CEO Tim Cook announced the investment back in August.

You know something is going to suck when it's a knockoff (at least when it's a product).

Hey I'm calling it as I see it. Apple doesn't do anything stupidly or blindly. If a business can get a tax break by making deals with the government for a win-win, then why not?
