Apple has launched new 'Spoken Editions' in iTunes letting you listen to articles from select websites.

Too busy to read your favorite websites? Just listen! These audio versions give you tons of great narrated stories. They're perfect for getting the latest scoop when we're driving, working out, or just feel like kicking back.

The podcasts are powered by SpokenLayer. The company turns a publishers' RSS feed of articles into audio recordings, letting users hear their favorite sites instead of reading them.

“We have a distributed network of voice-over talent that is tagged and managed,” SpokenLayer CEO Will Mayo, explained to TechCrunch. “The voice and style of any brand is in its writers and the reporting it does. That’s unique for every publication, and that uniqueness is honored,” he said.

SpokenLayer plans to produce hundreds of episodes per week going forward.
