Apple has announced that it will be holding a New Year's sale in Japan on January 2nd. The sale will be held online and in stores.
Previously, Apple had celebrated the New Year with a Lucky Bag (Fukubukuro) promotion that gave customers a bag of Apple products for $300. Many would purchase the bags in hopes of finding a high value item like a MacBook or an iPad inside.
It appears that this year Apple will be holding a more typical sale.

Aw. That's not fun. I always looked forward to the lucky bag event. Sales will be much lower this year.
