Apple is expected to release a third generation Apple Watch in the second half of 2017, according to a DigiTimes report.
Currently, Quanta Computer supplies all Apple Watch orders. It will continue to assemble the new Apple Watch but Compal Electronics will be given some production orders for the second generation smartwatch.
The upcoming next-generation Apple Watch, which is scheduled to be released in the second half, will continue to be manufactured by the Taiwan-based ODM; however, production of the existing second-generation Apple Watch will be partially given to Compal.
Compal has already moved equipment for production to plants in Chongqing in preparation for Apple's orders.
Compal is the second largest notebook ODM worldwide and has been aggressively expanding into non-notebook businesses over the past few years. Compal shipped five million wearable and IoT devices in 2016, and the volume is expected to increase to over 10 million units in 2017 with the Apple Watch being a major growth driver, the sources noted.
Had the same thing happen to my v1 sports watch. Never near water and never dropped. Started to notice haptic motor sounding louder and rattling over time. Watch face eventually separated from frame. Days out of warranty. What a shame!
I love Apple products, but I lost faith in the Apple Watch after the rubber seal that holds screen on detached. Apple started that it's not a manufacturer defect and refused to fix a 5 dollar seal. Poor product.
Same here totally lost respect for Apple this year, giving them another year to gain it back but if they stay stupid and greedy I'm walking out without looking back.
More than one year using my 1gen. I use it everyday at work, taking a bath, etc. Some times even in the pool and took it to snowboard too. No problem what so ever, it's working great, only has some minor scratches.
