Apple has plummeted to fifth place in LAPTOP's 'Best and Worst Laptop Brands 2017' survey. The company previously held the top position each year since the study debuted in 2010. While unfortunate, the drop is not unexpected as Apple has faced considerable backlash over its new MacBook Pro.
To pick the winners, losers and also-rans, we evaluated the 10 biggest laptop brands to determine which offer the best combination of quality products, cutting-edge innovation, helpful support, sleek designs and strong value. Because of its modest review scores, expensive products and lack of ports, Apple fell all the way down to fifth place after receiving top honors every year since the Best and Worst Brands debuted in 2010.
Each company was assigned a score based on a 100-point scale. Points are awarded in six different categories: Design, Reviews, Tech Support, Warranty, Innovation and Value and Selection.
Take a look at the charts below for more details...
While I really like my MacBook, it's hard not to agree the latest decisions Apple has been taking don't fall on the 'idiotic' category... All the negativity they're getting is well deserved including drop in sales and damaged brand image, must be strong so they learn the lesson.
I like iMac (Mid 2010). I like to get a Apple computer for my next computer as well. But the latest generation are getting too extreme. All ports and are and need to use converter. I am not allowed to upgrade memory/SSD myself.... I really hesitate to do any upgrade. I guess I will use my iMac until it is dead.
THE HORROR!! Oh wait, you guys just reweighed how you review a product without letting us know cuz you are such honest and trusted sources of information...
Not surprising since Apple laptops have always been over priced and underpowered. There's no bang for your buck. There are much better offerings on the market with much better specs at a much lower price. I think the newer generation of laptop owners are finally using their head and spending money wisely. Nowadays people want more for their money and not just pay extra for a certain brand-name that offers less.
Lack of ports. Lol. That's hilarious. To those that still defend that decision, no one is doubting USB-C is the future. The prob is that apple forced us to get there a little early, to be first in line to sell a cornucopia of adapters, and other odd reasons. When this new MacBook came out, I was like please let them keep one USB-3.0 port, but nope. No compromise. "We know best" Apple. Well that's why they get the harsh criticism they get.
Ya. Thanks to the removal of MagSafe connector, removal of SDcard slot, no USB ports, lousy short travel keyboard, the need for dongles for almost everything, and expensive. I wonder who made those decisions that piss many users off. Not good
