Delays in production and the November release of the iPhone X smartphone will likely push back the expected upgrade super cycle until 2018, reports KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The analyst believes that Apple will ship about 35 million more iPhone in 2018 than 2017.
The market generally refers to 2017 as the super cycle of the iPhone, but we think the real super cycle will be in 2018 for the following reasons: (1) TrueDepth Camera's production issues will be significantly addressed in 2018F; (2) new models launched in 2018F will enjoy a longer sales period than those unveiled in 2017; and (3) the product mix, specifications and designs of new iPhone models from 2018F will be more competitive. We estimate that for 2017, iPhone shipments will come in at 210-220mn units, which should grow to be 245-255mn units in 2018.

I'll be trading in my 7 Plus for X on the upgrade program. White/silver even though I've always only had black or space grey in the past since 2007 (and of course the first gen. had a black fromt). The pearlescent white/silver looks good with the contrasting black camera array and steel trim.
I was ready and waiting for the iPhone X but knowing that even though the screen is bigger the dimensions are smaller then I won’t. However, I usually get a new iPhone every year so if that’s true I’ll get the 8 Plus or keep my 7 Plus. I’m real happy wit my 7 Plus.
Waiting for the 6.4 inch iPhone x version. The iPhone x will display content smaller than the plus because the dimensions is not standard. It’s the same with the s8. The s8 screen seems smaller than my plus even though technically it’s bigger. I’m used the big size and want more battery life. Also they would have updated and fix any problems internally. I’m actually hoping sales are sluggish and that they reduce the price. It’s out of hand now.
Nope for me the iPhone X is a step back in size. Yes the actual screen size is larger than the 7plus but the physical dimensions are smaller and I don’t want a smaller handset. The size of the 7 plus is perfect for me.
