Boxee has unveiled their latest beta which features a completely redesigned home screen and underlying graphics library.
The home screen menu has been pulled out from the side and put front and center. You can see recommendations from friends on boxee, Facebook, or Twitter, as wekk as recommendations from Boxees staff and partners (Featured), and the latest episodes from your favorite shows or things youve saved for later (Queue).
The new global menu makes it easy to access helpful resources (TOP Logout, Settings, Queue, Feed, History), the main menu (MIDDLE Photos, Music, Movies, Home, TV Shows, Apps, Files) and shortcuts (BOTTOM) to your favorite Apps, TV Shows, Movies, or folders.
Movies and TV shows now includes both Internet and local content. Boxee now puts more focus on TV Shows and organizes by season, episode, or free content. The Boxee Queue is a list to which you can add any media type.
Boxee apps are now easily sortable. You can list by popularity or browse the newest additions to the library. Clicking an app will let you run it, add it to My Apps, or add it as as shortcut.
To share what you are watching a custom message can be sent to your Boxee, Twitter and Facebook followers.
Boxee has also changed the underlying graphic library on Windows from OpenGL to DirectX, and were now taking advantage of DXVA, which means Boxee for Windows just got faster and can play 1080p without your CPU breaking a sweat. They plan to open up the Beta to the public on Jan 7th (at CES).
