God, I hope you're right. Years ago I was dying over how great the iOS 7 design looked, but now I just want popping colors and 3D visuals/animations again.
Jailbreak it then. How can we tell 3D will be back if we hadn't hit the 20th major release of OS X or iOS? I understand we see a bit of a glossy texture of the OS X window buttons, but I wouldn't give my hopes up unless we see a rumor. I do like the old style don't get me wrong, but in contrast I feel that it looks clean from all that insane glare and have more eye popping color choices on the new one.
