Herp Games has announced that Defend Your Phone 1.1 for iPhone and iPod touch is now available for download at Apple's iTunes App Store. The game combines two very popular game genres from Apples App Store: The strategy and weapon upgrading from popular tower defense games and the finger flicking action from defend your castle games. The player has to defend his phone against waves of enemies that try to push it off the screen. The player has to hold the enemies back by bouncing them off the screen instead. This major update introduces a tutorial and a help system that guides unexperienced players.
The player is the commander of his own phone which is displayed as an icon on the left side of the screen. The enemies enter the screen from the right and try to push the phone off the screen. The player can upgrade his phone with numerous weapons like tennis balls and slime throwers to hold the enemies back and push them off the screen instead.
During each level the action is very fast paced. The player has to touch the screen to shoot tennis balls or other projectiles to bounce the enemies off the screen. The strategy part is between the levels. The player has to invest earned credits wisely. He can buy or upgrade weapons systems and has to decide where to position them next to her phone.
The style of the game focuses on explosive special effects of the weapons and smooth animated enemies that bounce off the screen. The phone and the weapons are displayed in the style of app icons. So that a phone "base" in the later game looks a bit like the iPhone main screen.
Pricing and Availability: Defend Your Phone 1.1 is $2.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.
