Apple replaced 11 million iPhone batteries for $29 last year, reports Daring Fireball. Apple CEO Tim Cook purportedly revealed the number at an all-hands meeting earlier this month.
During Apple’s all-hands meeting January 3, Tim Cook said Apple replaced 11 million batteries under the $29 replacement program, and they’d have only anticipated about 1-2 million battery replacements normally.
Apple attributed some of its lower than expected performance in Q4 2018 to this battery replacement program. While the company knew how popular the program was, it may not have expected it to significantly reduce the number of users upgrading to a new model.
Unfortunately, Apple's battery replacement program has ended but it's pretty easy to replace the battery yourself. You can find links to purchase a replacement battery below.
