Apple will begin production of its rumored AR headset between Q4 2019 and Q2 2020, reports analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to UDN, Kuo believes that Apple will become a leader in the augmented realty field because it requires a large investment, software and hardware integration capabilities, and innovative design for human-computer interaction.
Kuo expects the AR headset to function as an iPhone accessory. The iPhone will be responsible for computing, networking, indoor positioning, and outdoor position functions, leaving display functions to the new device.
Previous reports have claimed that Apple is working on an augmented realty headset that is not tethered to a computer or smartphone and uses an 8K display for each eye. Code named T288, the project is allegedly scheduled for release in 2020.

I love these prototype concepts that ignore engineering and technological realities! Since we're dreaming, why not include a tractor bean and x-ray vision?
