The new entry level LCD iPhone has reached the final verification stage of engineering validation; however, PCB orders for the device have been delayed until the second quarter of 2020, reports DigiTimes.

Apple's new entry-level LCD iPhone, tentatively dubbed iPhone SE2, has entered the final stage of engineering validation in Zhengzhou, China, where the vendor's major manufacturing partners Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron run assembly lines.

Unfortunately, it appears the coronavirus has caused a delay in PCB shipments for the device which could push back its launch.

As the coronavirus outbreak has reportedly prompted Apple to defer pull-in of PCB shipments for its iPhone SE2, originally set for launch in the first quarter, leading PCB maker Zhen Ding Technology - believed to be a supplier for the new iPhone - has expected better-than-usual revenue performance for the traditional off season in the second quarter, the sources said.

The site says that despite a slowdown of sales for Apple's handsets in the first half of 2020, Flexium and Career Technology are proceeding with capacity expansions to meet demand that will result from Apple's incorporation of FPCB products into its new MacBooks and iPads.

Apple was rumored to be holding a special event on March 31st to unveil new products. It's unclear if that event will proceed as planned.
