Consumer Reports has announced the results of its annual survey to rank computer manufacturers on their after sales care.
Manufacturer scores are based on an annual survey from the Consumer Reports National Research Center this past January of over 7,000 desktop- and laptop-owning subscribers to Consumer Reports. Respondents weighed in on the ability of manufacturer's tech support to solve their problems, the communication and knowledge of phone support staff, how long they were placed on hold, and the quality of the company's online support.
The results show Apple with a huge lead in both Laptop and Desktop categories. The company received a reader score of 86 in the laptop category followed by Lenovo with 63. Acer/Gateway/eMachines performed the worst with a reader score of 39.
Apple received an even higher score of 87 for Desktop care followed by Dell at 55. Acer/Gateway/eMachines again performed the worst with a reader score of 39.
