Channel News Asia is reporting that Singapore Telecommunications Ltd is launching the Apple iPhone in September. They cite industry sources for this information.

However, the impact on SingTel's bottom line should not be very significant given Apple's hard bargaining tendency and tough competition from StarHub," said DBS Vickers in a note to clients.

It is estimated that Singaporeans have bought at least 10,000 iPhones since the phone was launched in the US.

If the news is true, Singapore would be the first country in Asia to officially get the iPhone.
