Facebook is reportedly planning to add QR code capabilities to an upcoming version of the Facebook mobile app, according to TechCrunch.
A source with knowledge of Facebooks plans tells us that the QR codes will be used with an upcoming version of Facebooks mobile app. More specifically, businesses could potentially print out a QR code and put it on a wall or a counter in their venue to allow users to scan it to check-in at that store, were told. Facebook is expected to unveil its location plans at its f8 conference in late April.
Google recently partnered with QuickMark to offer a similar service on the iPhone. The company created window decals which were sent to the top 100,000 'Favorite Places on Google'. Each decal has a unique QR code that can be scanned to pull up the business' Place Page; where you can find reviews, coupons, phone numbers etc.
