TSMC is planning to move its 2nm process to production in 2025 with Apple being among its first customers, according to a DigiTimes report.

TSMC has set a timetable to move its 2nm GAA process to production in 2025 while commercializing its 3nm FInFET process with improved yield rates in the second half of 2022, with Apple and Intel among the first clients to adopt both nodes, further consolidating its dominance in the advanced foundry sector, according to industry sources.

Currently, Apple's chips are made on TSMC's 5nm process. It's believed that the new iPad Pro will be the first device to move to TSMC's 3nm production process. The technology is said improve computing performance by 10-15% versus 5nm and reduce power consumption by 25-30%.

Reports have also suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro could use the intermediate 4nm tech for scheduling reasons.
