Microsoft Edge has surpassed Apple Safari to become the second most popular desktop browser, according to StatCounter.
Their April data has Chrome leading the way with 66.64% of the market, followed by edge at 10.07%, Safari at 9.61%, Firefox at 7.86%, Opera at 2.43% and IE at 0.97%. It appears that Edge actually pulled ahead in March when it reached 9.65% compared to Safari at 9.56%.
Edge is based on Chromium and is available to users on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Recent reports have revealed that Microsoft plans to add a built-in VPN to browser in the near future.
