IKEA Teases DIRIGERA Smart Hub With Matter Support, New Home App

IKEA has announced that it will launch a new DIRIGERA Smart Hub with Matter support and a new Home app later this year. Matter is a new smart home standard backed by Apple, Amazon, and Google.

The next step on the journey to enable a better everyday life for the many people and a smarter living is to launch the Matter ready hub for smart products DIRIGERA. With its new software, DIRIGERA is built to handle more product segments and onboard more products than the existing TRÅDFRI gateway. It also enables the new and more user-friendly IKEA Home smart app.

“With DIRIGERA and the new app, one of our focuses has been on strengthening and simplifying the onboarding process when connecting new smart products to the smart home. We have also added personalisation options, such as creating different scenes with pre-set functions of the smart products for all your different activities and moments in the home”, says Rebecca Töreman, Business Leader at IKEA of Sweden.


The new hub will be used to onboard all IKEA smart products to the system and control them via the Home app. This will allow users to create different scenes and further personalize their smart home.

Digital solutions and technology have become natural ingredients in our everyday lives and now also in our homes. The smart home is an evolution of the home you already love and live in. The wide offer of smart products from IKEA is in the areas of sound, light, air purification, blinds, and many more to come in the future”, says Björn Block, Business Area Manager at IKEA of Sweden.

Availability:
DIRIGERA and the new IKEA Home smart app are planned to launch in October 2022. Users can continue to use the TRÅDFRI gateway and the current app. Already purchased smart products from IKEA will work equally well with the DIRIGERA hub when it arrives.

Additionally, IKEA plans to enable remote access functionality in the first half of 2023.
