Yusuke Sekikawa has released companion apps that let the iPad take pictures using your iPhone's camera.

After launching CAMERA-A on the iPad and CAMERA-B on the iPhone, the apps will automatically connect to each other via Bluetooth and start transferring live view images from the iPhone to iPad. You can then use the iPad to take a picture.

The app also you to zoom, pan, and tilt without moving the iPhone.

CAMERA-A for the iPad costs $.99 and CAMERA-B for the iPhone is free.

It's more and more obvious that the iPad is currently just an iPhone with limitations and some bonus. It has a much smaller # of tailored apps, running a little faster (double speed browser? hahaha) on a larger screen. Can you imagine yourself going out to dinner or on a date and carry that thing with you? Well maybe you have a very large shirt or trouser's pocket. Initial hype should fade really soon unless some developers bring innovations to it.

Am I correct in assuming that Camera-A & Camera-B are available for download from the AppStore? I ask as the iPad jailbreak has only just been demonstrated, but not actually implemented yet as far as I know. Plus this seems like one of those possibly useful and fun type of Apps that Apple wouldn't 'approve' for their official store...

Very clever. This gives the idea of using the iPhone camera for video calls. Just point your iPhone's camera to you.
