In a research note seen by MacRumors, Pu says Apple will likely use Qualcomm's unannounced Snapdragon X75 modem for 2024 iPhone models. Similar to the Snapdragon X70, Pu believes the X75 will be manufactured on TSMC's 4nm process, resulting in power efficiency improvements.
Although Apple acquired Intel's 5G modem business in 2019, it has so far failed to produce an in-house modem chip for mass production. Despite hints from Qualcomm that Apple could transition to its own chip next year, industry sources don't think it will be ready. Pu's report pushes Apple's timeline even further back.
