Google has acquired Agnilux a company comprised of former Apple employees, including several former P.A. Semi employees.
peHUB has learned that Google recently acquired Agnilux, which previously held strategic investment talks with companies like Cisco, Microsoft and Texas Instruments. We have not yet been able to confirm pricing terms, although assume it must have been a big deal to convince the Agnilux founders to shun the strategic investment — or traditional venture capital — routes so soon after founding.
It unclear what Agnilux was building; however, the NY Times suggests it's some kind of server, and that the company has a partnership in place with Cisco.
Before the company website was taken down it offered very little information beyond the location of its offices and the derivation of the company's name. Agni is Sanskrit for fire and Lux is the Latin for light.
