Sony has announced that it will stop production of its floppy disks in March of next year, according to CrunchGear.
The company produced the world's first 3.5-inch floppy disc in 1981 and even in 2008 they could still sell 8.5 million units in Japan alone.
Hitachi Maxell and Mitsubishi Kagaku Media have already withdrawn from the market and Sony wrapped up international sales last month with a few exceptions.
Sony stopped producing floppy disc drives last September.
