A DIY solution to using your iPad in landscape mode with a keyboard dock has been posted by BookofJoe.
The basic idea is to use a dock extender cable and the iPad case to reorientate the device.
Hopefully we will see some third party docks soon.

If you want a real keyboard, why not just buy a laptop? If so many people are connecting a keyboard to the iPad, it suggests the virtual keyboard isn't very good.
