Amazon has launched a public preview of its new 'Map View' feature. The feature organizes your smart home devices on a map view in the Alexa app and is available on select iPhone and iPad devices.

Map View is a new experience in the Alexa app, which will provide a simple way to view, manage, and control your connected smart home devices from a single interface. It will allow you to visualize your entire smart home at-a-glance. No more having to remember device names. You'll be able to quickly interact with and control your devices, such as turning the lights on and off and quickly checking if your doors are locked—from anywhere.

Users who previously signed up to test the feature should get an email to try it out this week. Map View will officially launch in 2024 in the Alexa app and on the new Echo Hub.

What devices will Map View be available on?
Map View will be available in the Alexa app for the following compatible iOS devices: iPhones 12 Pro and Pro Max, 13 Pro and Pro Max, 14 Pro and Pro Max, 15 Pro and Pro Max, and 4th, 5th, and 6th generation iPad Pros (2020 or newer) devices.

What devices will show up in Map View?
Map View will show most devices you can connect to Alexa, such as lights, plugs, cameras, and thermostats.

Is there a minimum number of devices I need to use Map View?
You will only need one device that connects to Alexa to use Map View, but Map View becomes more helpful with more devices. If you have fewer devices, Map View may help you decide how to expand your smart home.

Will I be able to grant someone else (e.g., roommate or family member) access to my Map View through their account?
No, a customer's Map View will only be accessible from iOS devices that are signed into the Alexa app using that customer's account credentials.

How will Map View be different from Groups?
Map View will provide a visual representation of your entire home layout and allow you to quickly view and control your connected devices in just a few taps, whether they're grouped or not.

Why would it only be compatible with Pro models of the phones? We’re not talking brain surgery here.
