Adobe says that they will make the best tools in the world for HTML 5.
Kevin Lynch, Adobe CTO and SVP, made these comments to Web 2.0 Expo SF program chair Brady Forrest.
Q: How is Adobe going to react to HTML5? A: I wouldnt say reacting to HTML5. We see whatever people are using to express themselves. Were going to make great tooling for HTML5. Were going to make the best tools in the world for HTML 5.
Its not about HTML 5 vs Flash. Theyre mutually beneficial. The more important question is the freedom of choice on the web.
Were facing a time where there are some who want to wall off parts of the web and need to have approval. I dont think thats the role of a company. Apple is playing this strategy where they want to create a walled garden.
And Apple has already shown how they will use HTML5 in iADs...
I think it´s a mature choice Adobe is doing here.
I just wish they wouldn´t fight over it - instead cooperate and make good products!
I'm not sure how using open standards on your devices is creating a walled garden.
I'm glad Adobe are getting into HTML 5. It will keep everyone happy. The flash people will be able to make HTML 5 content without retraining. Everyone happy.
